Scope, Please Do Not Wait Until It Is Too Late!

While I commend your efforts to oppose cuts to disability support, there is a critical issue that must be addressed: the lack of transparency in the government’s consultation process.
The government is planning to release an impact statement alongside the upcoming budget, suggesting they already have the new PIP form and descriptors finalised. Yet, these key documents have not been made available for public review. Without access to the new form and descriptors, disabled individuals cannot properly assess how the reforms will impact them. The new PIP form is essential for our members to understand fully how the changes and new criteria will affect individuals personally.
I urge Scope to demand the release of these documents. A consultation without this information is meaningless, and the voices of disabled individuals will be ignored.
The stakes are too high to allow the government to withhold the proposed descriptors at this stage. Specific changes to eligibility criteria, such as the new minimum 4-point requirement in at least one daily living activity, were announced yesterday but remain insufficiently explained. The government already has these details, and they should be made available now. Without this information, the consultation process risks being ineffective. Scope must lead the way in advocating for transparency and ensuring the needs of disabled individuals are protected.

I agree with you
We need to know what we are really up against
So much of it is too vague.
We need more clarity.

Hi @MW123 thank you so much for sharing this. I have made the relevant department aware of it, and asked they look in to this.
Just thought I'd update in general as well, the policy team is currently reviewing the Benefits Green Paper in detail, and we will provide updates on our website as soon as we have more information. Please check our website for further details, which will be published soon.
Best wishes,

It's more likely somebody will leak these documents to independent or foreign media rather than the red rosette Tories willingly releasing them.
Even if Scope and other charities lobbied them.
Fingers crossed they leak out.
