UC migration from ESA payment continuation and advance payment query.

Hello all,

Just had a quick couple of questions re transitioning from ESA (income based, legacy benefit) to UC.

Context: Also on PIP enhanced in both categories and in receipt of the ESA SDP Payment at £81.50 a week.

I've completed the forms tonight which happened to be an ESA payment day. Will I receive one more ESA payment (as I think it's paid in arrears)

The first payment date I was given for UC was the 28th of April. During that time, normally I'd have received an ESA payment on the 2nd of April, and again on the 16th of April, then finally the 30th (but this is a couple of days after the UC would've kicked in).

The advance offered was only £830, which may or may not be okay, but it is fully dependent on any future payments of ESA coming in or not.

Does anyone know how the advance offer is calculated? I've read a lot of different ideas (mostly on reddit) so I'm hoping someone here might know the official answer because £830 is going to be significantly well below my usual monthly payment and the first UC payment isn't for 40 days.

For context: during that 40 day period I'd have received almost £1443 in ESA if I wasn't in the process of being forced to migrate to UC.

You should receive one more ESA payment, this might not be for a full two weeks worth.

The UC advance amount reflects your current predicted UC entitlement. This changes as UC receive more pieces of information. It takes time for UC to calculate everything. I really wouldn't read anything bad into the amount you are currently being offered.
