Had a letter about change in law how it may affect you with social support to mix with other people face to face . When I had assessment I was awarded 0 points for mixing with other people. Which I no wasent right but didn't challenge it because to stressful so was awarded lowest rate daily living. That was in 2019. Then in may 2024 had another assessment in which I scored 2 points on this question need prompting to engage with other people I was then awarded enhanced rate backdated from April 2023 never had any back payment. I was thinking because it took so long for the assessment to be looked at is it worth giving them a ring or not anymore with any advice please

    Hi,

Did you receive a letter saying that you would get backpay from April 2023 to May 2024?

Backpay isn't automatically given for reviews. The decision maker has the discretion on whether or not to allow backpay.

If you did get a letter about it, but did not get the money in your account, then I would say it is definitely worth contacting them again now.

Ok, that's just standing wording, it doesn't mean you were owed any backpay from that review.

The change in PIP law is about social support. If you believe that does affect you, then you should contact PIP and ask them to look at your award again. It's not a full review, just for that particular question on the earlier assessment.
