Hi, my name is Stilts1968! I have been told my universal credit has stopped and can no longer claim.

Good morning all. I have been told my universal credit has stopped and can no longer claim. What am I to do as I relied on this to survive. I told UC that I now have a partner who is 72years old and on a state pension. Everything has stopped. This is not fair. My partner has worked all his life for this pension, now he’s moved in with me he has to surrender what’s his to keep me. I am so stressed about this situation. Please can you help me.

It's all about your combined income.as there is a threshold. My mum is in the same situation.she gets nothing from dwp because of her husbands private pension which she receives after his death and her state pension. She pays full rent and full council tax. It's not good is it 😕

I’m 57 years old and my partner is 72. I’m not pensionable age. What else can I do.

Like i said. They take both incomes into consideration now your living together. Basically they are saying you can both support each other now as you are cohabiting. You could ask for a review of your situation

It's expected that couples living together support each other financially, rather than looking to the state for means tested benefits.
Try a calculator to see if there is anything else.
