Hi, my name is floydy! Just been migrated to UC but haven't had a payment yet...

Hi All
I thought I should join this forum ,since just been migrated to UC but haven't had a payment yet, due date for payment amount is 20th April and payment 25th apparently.
Finding the whole process really stressful, I and my wife are down as severely disabled, she in support group and I in work support group ?
I have been asked to go into jobcentre today to accept new commitments?
Been waiting since last July for Maximus to return my capability to work assessment, but they have apparently been told to focus on new claimants only and will contact me in due time.
Does anyone know what these new commitments are , when I have LCW ?
Really Stressed out about this whole thing.
Thanks

With LCW you are expected to do work preparation activities, although you can't be forced to apply for jobs.
It will be a discussion with the work coach before the new commitments are written down for your agreement, some are more reasonable than others while awaiting a WCA.
Do be aware if you are found to have LCWRA, no extra money will be paid as the maximum number of LCWRA elements payable is one in a couples claim. It will still remove you from work commitments.

Hi Kimi87
Thank you for your quick reply π
I heard someone mention about transition protection and that the amount we did get on ESA would be same on UC , is this correct advice ?
When we got married, a benefits worker said it would be better if my wife claimed and we would get an extra Β£20 a week, but my wife just said for me to claim for us both , as we are trying to be as straight up as possible.
The whole thing is so complicated it seems , I have been trying to stay calm but have worked myself into a tizzy.

Transitional Protection is added if your total UC award is lower than legacy benefits at the time of transfer.
TP does erode over time as other elements go up annually or new elements are added to the claim.
It would stop entirely with a major change of circumstances such as swapping between a single/couple claim.

Thank you Holly_scope π
Well I went to my commitment agreement appointment today , and what a rude person, she made me feel like I was a scrounger , even though I worked for just over 30 years before I was taken ill.
Not a person I want to see again , no compassion and just seemed judgmental and distant.
Has anyone else experienced anything like this?

I'm so sorry the person you saw made you feel like that @floydy. You wouldn't be the first to report that kind of experience, it seems a bit luck of the draw who you get. At the start of my UC claim I felt really patronised and judged by the person dealing with my claim, but later I was changed to a much nicer work coach who was a lot more understanding. Sorry you had to deal with that, I hope the rest of your claim goes smoothly!

Thank you

I spoke to another person as well who mentioned similar experience.
I have a phone appointment in May, so hopefully this person will have some manners and a bit of compassion.
Really Appreciate you taking the time to respond ππ
