Hi, my name is yard! I'm moving from a shared house to a 1 bed flat. I'm on uc lcwra and pip middle.

I'm moving from a shared house to a 1 bed flat. I'm on uc lcwra and pip middle. My previous rent was £800 now it's going to be £1500(£997 lhr).
Do I call uc or message them?
When should I tell them I'm moving, when I get the keys or now?
I also need a discretionary payment towards first month's rent and deposit. Any info would be appreciated thanks.

Do you already get the one bedroom rate of LHA?
You should be entitled due to your PIP.
Once you've moved in you can log into your UC Journal, and report the change in your rent amount and your new address.

Beware the government has decided to maintain/cap LHA rates at the current levels, meaning there will be no increase in the LHA rates. They keep increasing rent every year and your rent is already too high and is on the borderline. In a couple of years' time, you would have to pay a part of the rent yourself, as housing benefit/universal credit won't cover your whole rent.
If I were you, I would definitely not move into a one bedroom that's £1500 a month.

Hi @yard just wanted to pop and say welcome to the community ☺️
I can see you've had some great advice from members, so I won't add anything more for now. Hope all goes well with the move.
