edited June 16 in Universal Credit (UC)

Hi all.

Up until today I have not been receiving UC due to deductions from my husband's wage and child tax that we owed. It looks like I have cleared what was owed for child tax credit as today I received my first UC payment. I'm in the ESA support group but for my mental health, I choice to be a freelance social media manager as it fits in with my physical capabilities. This is under permitted work and I earn just over £200 a month so we'll under the threshold.

I've been doing it officially since January and need to register for self assessment. Does UC take permitted work into account and deduct accordingly? Is this done monthly or at the end of the tax year? The job centre were initially very helpful but no one has mentioned this at any time. I'm now worrying I've done something wrong.

I had a work capability assessment and I've been deemed required not to find work.

I've been in your exact situation (even same job haha!!) claiming LCWRA and working! If you've been working self-employed you should have been reporting this to UC, when you tell UC you are self employed at the end of your assessment period each month it will ask what your income and expenditure for self-eployment was and adjust your UC based on what you've earned. Have you reported to UC about being self-employed @beccymelody?? ❤️

No, and stupidly I didn't know I had to. This is my first month of receiving it so it's definitely time for a phone call. Thank you so much for your reply. Google didn't show me anything and I've been so worried I've done something wrong. When you say end of assessment period, do you mean UC assessment period or self assessment? I've spent all my life being an employee so this is all so new to me.
