Do I just ignore the following message in my UC Journal?

Hi.

I've been on UC for a couple of months. I transferred to UC from income related ESA. I was in the support group. I receive ESA monthly and contribution/new style ESA every 2 weeks. I informed UC a month or two ago that I receive contribution/new style ESA every 2 weeks, so UC corrected my payment (deducting several hundred pounds from my payment. I owe them just under £600, so they pay me less each month). I've received the following message in my journal:

"

Some other benefits can affect how much Universal Credit you get. You can continue to claim these benefits, but we will adjust your Universal Credit payment. Your statement shows you how we do this.

Our records show that you are getting:

Employment and Support Allowance

If you think this is wrong

If you no longer get this benefit you should contact the office you claimed it from. Tell them you're now getting Universal Credit and to update their records.

Benefits that can affect Universal Credit are:

  • Jobseeker's Allowance
  • Employment and Support Allowance
  • Carer's Allowance
  • Carer Support Payment
  • Maternity Allowance
  • Bereavement Allowance (including Widowed Parent's Allowance)
  • Widow's Pension (including Widowed Mother's Allowance)
  • State Pension
  • Incapacity Benefit
  • Severe Disablement Allowance
  • Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit

If you are also getting one or more of these benefits as well as the ones we already know about, you must contact the office you claim them from. Tell them you're now getting Universal Credit and to update their records."

I received the same message in my journal 2 months ago.

When I transferred from income related ESA to UC, everything was done smoothly. I began receiving CB ESA (now 'New Style') every 2 weeks. Do I need to inform ESA of anything? I've not been sent any letters. They're still continuing to pay me every 2 weeks (is this because I was in the support group and part of my benefit was contributions based). Do I have to contact them or do I leave things as they are?

Thank you.

All the best.

No further action is needed. These are automated messages which you will receive from time to time, I can get them monthly for 3 months then nothing for 5/6 months.

Yes you get NS ESA because part of your previous ESA award was Contributions Based.

    Thank you for your help.

I don't know why they can't communicate clearly.

    All the best.
