It's very tough. I can't rest. But don't let's lose heart totally. There are rebels out there. The Bill is not a Money Bill. It needs to pass though both houses before getting Royal Assent. There will be ammendments. Life will still get harder but perhaps not quite as hard as we think, looking at the coming weeks. Take care @Catherine21 Love, @Zipz

I know I'm the same don't know where to turn everyday for months this has been happening less mps responding back I got appointment at cmht what can that do more tablets that don't work sorry feel so defeated today we need some hope just a glimmer to hold onto I hate them what they are doing to us I understand it needs reforming but not to throw us to the lions

This from campaign for disability justice, good they are trying but if they think Starmer will listen or change his mind they're deluded. After what he said the other day about pressing ahead and no more consessions I realised you can't reason with a psycopath. The best we can now do is hope it gets watered down (yeah right!!) and plan for the future about how to get this 4 points. Iv'e sent emails to mp's etc, hope things might change or a u-turn, a waste of time in my view, better off talking to my gp and getting medical evidence down before these 'reforms' come in next year, plan ahead, keep diarys etc to gain this 4 point rule, it's our only hope, not being pessemistic but all the talk of help has been for WFA, and 2 child benefit cap, sod the disabled in his eyes.
The Government’s consultation on the Pathways to Work Green Paper closes on Monday, June 30 and we plan to deliver our response - with the open letter that you signed – by hand to Downing Street.
To remind you - the letter sets out the key concerns many of us share:
- That the proposals risk cutting crucial financial support to Disabled people without improving access to work.
- That proper consultation is missing where it matters most.
- That real change requires listening to Disabled people and working with us on what’s urgently needed: real reform of PIP and the Work Capability Assessment – so they work for Disabled people, not cut their benefits - effective safeguarding, access to employment support, and a national strategy for advice services.
Together, we are delivering a thoughtful, united response that reflects the real needs of Disabled people and calls for a better way forward.
Ensuring your voice is heard where it counts
This letter isn’t the only way we’re making sure our voices are heard.
We’ve also been actively engaging with policymakers to raise concerns face-to-face:
- Last week, our campaign CEO, Caroline Collier, and Head of Policy, Geoff Fimister, met with Dan Tomlinson, MP for Chipping Barnet, to discuss our serious concerns about the Green Paper and the missing proposals from the official consultation.
- Next week, we’ll meet with David Pinto-Duschinsky, MP for Hendon, to continue those conversations in Parliament.
- Geoff Fimister also spoke at the National Association of Welfare Rights Advisers (NAWRA) conference, calling for a national advice strategy to ensure Disabled people can access local, independent support when dealing with benefits and related systems.
- Just this week, Caroline Collier, along with several other Deaf and Disabled People’s Organisations, met with officials from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) to contribute to the ongoing Mayfield Review and advocate for a more inclusive approach to employment reform. The Mayfield Review aims to identify the scale, trends, obstacles and opportunities for companies when recruiting and retaining ill and disabled people.
Each of these meetings strengthens the message in our open letter, and each step gets us closer to ensuring Disabled people’s voices are central to decisions being made.
A word about the Spending Review
You may have caught the Government’s Spending Review announcement on Wednesday. We welcome the renewed investment in employment support, but to truly deliver change, this agenda must be led by Disabled-led organisations who are the experts in inclusive employment. The government’s commitments will only be meaningful if Disabled people and Disabled-led organisations are at the centre of delivery. We urge policymakers to partner with those who have lived experience and invest in what already works.

This is personal against us . If it’s to bring the benefit bill down they won’t scrap the two child limit will they ? If that’s scrapped the benefits bill will increase as people will have more children. You can’t control getting old or becoming sick or disabled though , we have no choice do we ?
As you say we need to check our awards and make sure we know we need the 4? Point next time . My last form was about 5 years ago , I just read it and there’s at least one descriptor where I should have gotten a 4. Assessor 2 year and half years ago gave me a. 2 . She was steering me towards the 2s then increased my award . I couldn’t understand why then but now I think this was always coming0
