Hi @maggiemoon there are grants available. I've found some helpful information below, which is from the Mobility Scooter Grants & Financial Aids | Aspire2 Mobility website.
"There are several ways in which you might be eligible for a free mobility scooter. Some options include are listed below:
- NHS wheelchair and mobility scooter services: The National Health Service (NHS) in the UK provides mobility scooters and other mobility devices free of charge to individuals who are eligible. To be eligible, individuals must meet certain criteria, such as having a permanent or long-term mobility issue that significantly affects their ability to walk. To apply, individuals should contact their GP or local NHS wheelchair service.
- Charitable organisations: There are several charities listed above that provide financial assistance or free mobility scooters to individuals in need.
- Local councils: Local councils in the UK may provide financial assistance or free mobility scooters to individuals who are in need. Eligibility criteria and availability may vary by council. To apply, individuals should contact their local council."
There's also Access to Mobility Grants | Charitable Grants | Motability Foundation which may be an option for gaining a grant.
Best wishes,
