Hi iv just migrated over to uc and iv checked my first statment i dont understand the part which says deductions for benefits your not entitled to (esa) if im right i was told from the date u claim uc and migrate u are entitled to a run of 2weeks last payments from any other benefit your on then they stop and this is what happened in my case, so i dont understand why they are deducting some money off my uc now because i havent recieved any esa since my last 2week run on payment when i messaged the journal they said esa is deducted pound for pound as its a overlapping benefit, can anyone please explain and help as i dont understand whats happening if i was entitled to that 2 week last payment why is it being deducted now or any deduction saying esa as i dont get esa now?? X

This is because they accidentally paid you too much Income Related ESA at some point during the migration process.

It will be deducted until it's paid back in full.

The run on payment is for varying amounts depending on where in your ESA payment cycle you were when the UC application was made.

So it's possible you were overpaid but didn't notice because the payment was for your normal amount.

You can ask on your Journal how much the overpayment was, or speak to DWP Debt Management on 0800 916 0647

All I can advise further is the line "as you received other benefits you were not entitled to" is used when there has been an overpayment.

You would need to dispute the overpayment if you disagree with it.

You can use your Journal or make a formal complaint
