Hi,

My son has recently been awarded the Daily Living Component of PIP. Will a non- dependant deduction for him still be calculated in my housing and council tax costs? I am his carer and have no disabilities myself. Many thanks.

Sorry, I also forgot to add he is claiming Universal Credit, awaiting a Work Capability Assessment. Thanks.

Hi @KLB1888 - & welcome to the community. As far as Housing Benefit goes, then there won't be any non-dependent deductions if your son claiming UC is under 25 & doesn't have any earned income.

If you claim the Housing element, then there won't be any non-dependent deductions either as he now receives the daily living component of PIP.
