If ask for pip award reviewed does claim pause?

Any advice greatly appreciated:)
A friend is currently receiving the daily living component of PIP but has been advised to try for the mobility part but they are worried if they do so their current claim will stop whilst waiting on a decision.. Is this the case?
TIA :(

No. Your friend needs to contact PIP for a Change of Circumstances. A "How your disability affects you" (PIP2) form will be sent out. Fill the form like a new claim. Once the DWP has the form it will be reviewed. While all this is going on your friend's PIP award will not stop.
Your friend's whole claim will be looked at again, even though your friend is applying for the PIP Mobility element.
