hi,

I have had LCW for approx 4 years.

Recently I was required to fill in an health assessment form by the job centre, then have a telephone assessment.

I have now been moved to LCWRA. I am confused by the journal message they sent me:

1 you may get extra money each month

2 you do not need to provide fit notes ( I haven't been required to provide them in years)

3 Payment of extra money usually starts 3 months after you submit your first fit note

point 2 and 3 contradict each other regarding the fit notes. Do I have to provide one or not?

Will I have to wait 3 months as point 3 mentions?

Thanks in advance Terry

It's a standard message assuming yours is a new claim, yours is a review.

If you had the review form sent out of the blue without you reporting a change in health, then there is no waiting period for LCWRA element to be paid it starts from the assessment period in which the decision is made.

Thank you for your response. No fit notes required?

No Fit Notes required, again that part of the message assumes your award came from a brand new claim and you had been submitting Fit Notes as part of that claim.

my assessment period is 23 april -22 may (i get paid 1 june).

should i expect a payment for the above mentioned period or the following?

Yes you will be eligible for LCWRA payment to be paid within that Assessment Period.

Even though you've received the decision UC need time to process before LCWRA is added to your monthly payment.

It's unlikely to be on your next payment statement so they will owe you one month LCWRA element.

Money owed is calculated separately and this usually takes several weeks at least. You'll know this has been done when a letter is added to your Journal confirming the amount they owe you.

You'll then receive the money into your bank account several working days later.
