370,000 fat chance I did a little bit more research, the original question I asked the Internet was “how many drivers are employed by London Dial-a-Ride” answer given 370,000 I think it must’ve been thinking 370,000 bus drivers in London, that might make sense. realistically, I think the real answer is more likely to be in the hundreds rather than the thousands. And certainly not in the hundreds of thousands.
truth be told it’s quite difficult to find out the exact number right now most of what I found online was old and figures varied.

I think the most accurate figure I found was a Q&A session with the mayor From last year.

But even more interesting is this Q&A session between Caroline Pidgeon and Sadiq Khan where she has said that the service was cut from 460 buses to 170 between 2019 and 2023.

if those figures are still correct with 170 buses and 42,000 registered users and growing, is it any wonder the service is diabolical? Are they 170 buses referred to including the community transport buses run by local councils? Are they just referring to the red buses run by TFL? Another interesting question about the cuts, look at the dates 2019 to 2023 what was going on in 2020 and 2021 people were shielding because of Covid so therefore there would’ve been significantly less journeys being used during that period that could’ve been their justification for cuts!

And the new booking system has been absolutely roasted by Transport for all, admittedly they were basing their report on research conducted on only 14 users but actually in my experience what they said was accurate. lack of availability, buses arriving at the wrong time either too early or too late or even not at all, and excessively long trips due to drivers having to pick up or drop off other users, but I guess with only 170 buses covering the whole of London is it surprising that this is the service and conditions we are expected to accept?
