An 'Interesting' Day Out

I decided to get the bus from Durham to South Shields, it was definitely worth the two hour bus ride.

Look at the Ladybird that I found on my glove šŸ˜„ I made sure to put him/her down safely.

On the way home I got off the bus in Pity Me (about 2 or 3 miles from Durham) to let a woman with a pushchair on (old bus, not insured to carry both of us) my choice, I fancied the 'walk' (roll, push, wheel) šŸ‘Øā€šŸ¦½ then took the scenic route through Brasside back into Durham. I may also have stopped for another pint 🤣

Then here's where it gets interesting...

I got on my bus home in my usual wheelchair space. An idiot got on the bus, sat in front of me then started harassing a young woman sitting behind him. She went upstairs to be away from him, but then he grabbed my arm. I told him to f%#k off and that you don't harrass women like that, and he said he was going to hurt me, he repeated it then the idiot swung for me, which ended up with me restraining him in a choke hold until another young lad helped throw him off the bus at the next stop.

Apparently it's going on Snapchat tonight because the young lad took a video of me restraining him (including me giving a thumbs up and a grin) šŸ‘Øā€šŸ¦½šŸ’ŖšŸ¤£ I know I shouldn't be proud, but I taught him a lesson he'll not forget quickly. Plus my reputation in my home town will be pretty great 🤣

Apparently the driver isn't allowed to intervene in these situations. He told me when I got off the bus that another driver got fired last week for physically removing a guy who hit a woman. Not on 😔

I apoligised to the driver but he told me I did the right thing and that I have nothing to apologise for.

I'm in no way a violent person but I can handle myself and specialise in grappling and restraint. I never thought I'd have to use it in 'anger' though. Note I stayed calm throughout.

So I'm home now, watching Eastenders on iPlayer and enjoying a cup of tea. All in all a lovely day with a very unexpected ending.

    @wheeled weapon,

    Hi,

A very nice thing to do, give your space for a person with pushchair! I might be very presumptuous, but guess you have previously had some kind of military training? Or perhaps some very useful practical defence training! I'm sure everyone else on the bus were relieved when the individual was removed from the bus! Either way, people underestimate the strength a person can have in just their upper body.

You are amazing with your photos, they are so clear and beautiful views where you live. Great photo of ladybird just settled on your glove, the detail of said insect is fantastic.

Hope you enjoyed your well deserved pint on your way home!

Beautiful Photo's thank you for sharing. Shame about the yob on the bus, but you dealt with him, I imagine the little bully was shocked. Apart from that, it sounds and looks a great day out, with a pint...ir two šŸ˜€.

Blimey, that was certainly a day of two halves @Wheeled_Weapon I'm sorry you felt you had to step in, but thank you for helping not just the woman, but hopefully a lot more people. Let's hope he thinks twice before being a bully. Just please be careful!

Beautiful pics too, wat a gloriously picturesque day it was. ā¤ļø

There's nowt so queer as folk, Wheeled Weapon!

Looks like a nice trip out. Like the rest of the UK, the North-east has some delightful locations.

Shame about the nutter on the bus, fortunately you handled it well IMHO.

Perhaps positive that it was recorded. If you locate that video you could tell the rozzers, see if anything may be done.

Good luck and here's to Positive Mental Attitude!

What scenic pictures of lovely places in the north east of our little island. But I must say that the numpty who tried it on picked the wrong gadgie this time, I bet his head is mashed he obviously thought he had the advantage and found out the hard way not to judge a book by its cover.

I’m not a snapchatter but would love to see the video.
