Illegal Immigrants

There appears to be an issue with the cats. Must be a technical issue.

Not to worry, experts are working to fix the issue.

Normal cat service has been resumed.

They definitely didn't get those stats from the cats.

@Stellar Thank goodness. At last. Someone with some facts. (And @Holly_Scope stating there's no causal link between immigration and an increase in crime in the UK). Thank you 🙏 👍.
Imo a debate shouldn't be shut down just because someone doesn't like the topic. We should all have the maturity, and sense, to keep it civil no matter how distasteful or abhorrent we might find some views. If people don't want to participate then they can scroll on, I find that works really well and without the need for any antagonism or popcorn!

It's not about the topic itself, it's the "Send 'em all back" and correlating immigration to crime comments. I don't think the Scope forum is the place for this.
Besides, I tried telling the cats to behave. They're not listening to me because they're cats

I just can't stop the cats. They just keep coming 😮

I'm allergic to cats so I skipped through and didn't see Holly_Scope's post.
The Scope forum is definitely the place for this. It's in the Current Affairs area so was posted in the spirit of the online community.

For hateful views to be published?
Look at @governmentsdontcare's comment on the first page - pure hatred.
Nah, the cats won't like this at all.

This is such a political minefield and a very very contentious subject. I’m a Buddhist and a man of peace and believe in right speech, right intention, right view and right action. I am also a pacifist and a man of peace.
I come from a very multi culturally diverse town where there are many different, races, creeds and religions. Some people in my home town do not like it which I understand and that is there freedom to believe in there own principles and ideals.
I believe in being an open and honest person, a lot of the migrants that are sadly putting there lives at risk by boarding boats to get across the channel or by hiding out in wagons or are trafficked here illegally. Some are Political Refugees, some have Emigrated to this Country legally, Some sadly have died doing this. Many of them are displaced from war torn countries, such as an example - Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria where let’s be frank we destroyed there homes and livelihoods. So who are we to stand in the way of them wanting a better future for there families. We didn’t say oh no we are not welcoming displaced Ukrainians in 2022, or after WW2 we didn’t tell the Windrush People from the Caribbean who helped to get a country that was on its knees, back onto a a stable platform and helped to rebuild the nation. Many other Allied Nations, alongside former Axis Nations also helped to get this country back on its feet as well!
Now I want people to think this one through… Are You Truly English let alone British?
If you do think you are, I would honestly hand in heart say, have a look at using a service such as Ancestry DNA as I can attest to that you would be truly surprised to learn that your not truly fully British. I myself am - English, Scottish, Irish, Welsh, Danish and Swedish.
Think way way back to the last successful invasion of the British Isles in the Norman Conquest of 1066AD by Norman Duke of Normandy and the Anglo Saxons, then prior to that the Viking Invasion of Lindisfarne in 793AD and before that the Roman invasion of 55BC.
Before that we were Celts, Picts,Gaels and we can go further back to when all land was joined together, where we first emerged as **** Sapiens in Africa over 300,000 years ago.
We all have blood in our veins, think with a brain, have a beating heart, walk on two feet and breathe the same air. We are a multicultural society, who speak many different languages, we all have different religions, different beliefs, we all have our own clothing preferences, we all speak a multitude of different languages, we come from different countries, we all have our own place to worship and we all share the same planet.
who are we to tell others what they can say, what they believe, what they can wear, that they don’t have a right to be here, that they have to abide by our rules and regulations and that they should all learn out language and not speak there own mother tongue.By going down the avenue of denial, ideology, anger and using the terminology of Illegal Immigrant I gets Criminal Intent, where as use more understanding words such as unsettled, exile, relocation, displacement etc.
The rise of racism & anti semitism in this country is akin to Germany in the late 1930’s & 1940’s, many of our have had family killed in the Holocaust, been killed fighting to free Europe from Racial Oppression, I know that those that are still here today will be shaking there head’s in shame at how low the country has sunk, those that have sunk to that low are dancing on the graves of those who died, have no known graves and those that still survive today.
I will leave it with this final peace, we all know love, we know what is right, what is wrong, we know racism isn’t just for one race or creed of people - it encompasses all of us, we are all stuck on this little archipelago that sits off continental Europe and like it or lump it, we all have to live together and must find a middle ground, we must practice loving kindness, learn acceptance and to be open minded, forgiving and welcoming, after all other countries welcome us when we chose to emigrate to their countries, so why can’t we be so open……..

Well said! Plus as I mentioned at the start of this thread, I work with asylum seekers voluntarily once a week. They're human beings, that's it, no debate.
I (or the cats) wouldn't have had a problem with this thread (as a means of debate) if it wasn't for the hate spiel from some commenters.

Well said @Roughyed1485, moderate and compassionate 🙏. Very well said ❤️ 💜.

I saw your post yesterday @Wheeled_Weapon and good on you, I meant to reply yesterday. I'd be helping if I wasn't housebound and I appreciate those that do.
I always have hope that meaningful debate (including with those whose views we find to be either ignorant, hateful, intolerant or ill-informed) has the potential to sway and persuade - through sharing facts as well as their own conscience - to not only be more tolerant but to truly see our fellow humans' suffering and have compassion.
I'm not naive enough though to not know that some have ingrained views; I just fear silence and closing debate almost allows them to 'win', as the voices of reason, compassion and of love to our fellow beings are then not heard and these voices should be heard, loud and clear. We all bleed the same colour 🙏 ❤️💜.

@Wheeled_Weapon Yes, read that comment. Ignorance and hate but not a hate crime.
I'm sure that person @governmentsdontcare - hello, we're talking about you - and all of us have benefitted from both invited and intentional immigrants' contribution to their social and health care at some point.
Forced immigration is what asylum seekers are contending with. Immigrants choose or are invited to join a country.

@Santosha12 I just think that this forum is supposed to be a safe place for people with disabilities. Not everyone on this forum was born here, and for them to read some of the comments on this thread makes me feel disgusted.
For some people, talking to others on this forum is a really big step and takes a lot of courage. Last thing they need is to be made to feel unwelcome.
So whilst I do understand your point about closing debate and silencing, I think this is wholly the wrong forum for this to be posted on.
1 -
I respect your viewpoint @Wheeled_Weapon and I do hope that everybody on here, including those who were not born here, will feel from what they read that the vast majority of the Community are caring and have compassion and that the 'intolerants' are very much in the minority.

When I saw the name for this chat, I’ll freely admit I was disgusted to see such terminology used in on this forum, let alone a chat. I had to take a pause and think carefully and constructively how I would share my level headed opinion. But to see some of the comments that have been posted, it’s fare to say they are unkind and belittling. This forum is meant to be a safe space for people to feel free to open up, share there stories, meet people that live a life similar to there’s, share there success, share there stumbles, be uplifted and inspired by like minded people. I myself wasn’t so sure about opening up on here due to me being a very private, reclusive person and one who is a closed book to the world. Everybody should be welcomed warmly with loving kindness, many will probably see this post and retreat back into the shadows. We are all equal no matter what our beliefs, opinions, race, creed and religion or whatever country we are from. We all are human beings that know what is right, what is wrong, we know how people in the outside world look down on people with disabilities with disgust. But what we are, we are inspirational people for we have faced many challenges and obstacles in our life time and overcome them no matter the size of the fight! Having a Disability no matter if it’s a physical one or a hidden one, they are our SUPER POWER’S!!!
