Hi @librabromjohn and congratulations on your award. 😊 Usually, the award begins from 3 months from the date you made the claim.

Thank you for reply this is where I get abit confused I reported health change in November around 20th last year and filled out and sent back the form which they received late December I’m also currently on LWC since September 2023 I’m not sure if this helps

Switching from LCW to LCWRA removes the 3 month waiting period.

However, usually LCWRA won't get backdated if you didn't provide fit notes. That will be down to a decision makers discretion now.

LCWRA probably won't be included with the payment on 3rd July as it's so late in the assessment period now. You should get the first payment on 3rd August.

Thank you for your response I was told by UC that I didn’t need to provide for notes as I was already on LWC would that really be a problem when coming to backdating my payment

Hi @librabromjohn - & welcome to the community. If this was a review started by the DWP, then the extra LCWRA element is payable from the assessment period in which a decision was made.

It does say you have been awarded LCWRA, but as your decision has just been made this month, then there will be no backpay.

[As you were incorrectly told not to provide continuous fit notes, if you'd reported a change which started off this review, when normally the first payment of LCWRA would be from the assessment period in which you reported a change, then a decision maker would have had to decide from when you'd receive payment, & they may have made it from the assessment period in which a decision was made anyway without any backdating of payment]

Do check your next statement to make sure the extra LCWRA element has been added, which you should receive on 3 July.

[Your assessment period will be from the 29th of one month to the 28th of the next, so LCWRA element due from 29 May - 28 June but, as this is paid in arrears, your first payment will be on 3 July]

Hope that explains things for you. Sorry, edited as I had missed you were LCW.

ahh no does this mean I’ve done something wrong in listening to them and not providing new fit notes as it wasn’t even giving me the option to do so in which this was their reply

It says above that you reported a health change (not the DWP deciding to review).

Yes, you've been badly advised as you should provide continuous fit notes until getting a decision on your WCA. However, you have evidence it seems of difficulty with providing a fit note, & the poor advice you then received.

Please let us know what happens.
