Pip 10 year review

My son was awarded PIP in July 2015, and I'm his appointee. The letter just said he had been awarded for an ongoing period, with no mention of a date for contact anywhere. He is autistic and had endless medical evidence /reports from his specialist school etc. It was quite clear at 16 that he was severely autistic. Very little has changed and I'm still his appointee and carer.

I'm dreading the post coming, as everything I've read said to expect a review after 10 years and the news lately has been worrying.

Has anyone heard of a letter for ongoing, without mention of a date in the future?

Your son was awarded an "ongoing" award due to being severely autistic. There is no end date as he is not likely to improve. I would not worry, you as his appointee may be contacted for a "light touch" review after 10 years. Ongoing awards get light touch reviews as the DWP or PIP are just checking in on him. The form is an AR2 form and not the normal PIP form. It is "lighter" but answer all the questions if and when it arrives. That's the limit of my knowledge on this actually and I hope it helps. I got a long award but there is an end date, so mine is different.

Thanks for replying. We're at 10 years this month, so I guess I should receive something anytime now. I'm surprised they've left it this late - I presumed I'd get it months ago in time for the 10 years review, but they're probably snowed under at the minute.

I have very little in the way of new medical evidence if they need it. His adult services were cut and then stopped, so we've just carry on with certain therapies at home, stuff like facial expression recognition with cue cards - he's rarely ill so even the GP would be hard pushed to write a letter for him. I'm just worrying in advance, which I know is silly.

There are delays due to backlogs. You have already sent in the evidence and I am sure PIP know there will be no improvement, this is why your son has an ongoing award. Fill the form out when it arrives, like you did with the original form giving all the detail. Don't worry, just wait for the form to arrive.
