Terminal Illness. what extra benefits can be claimed

Hi Everyone, my name is Roy, i am new here, and just recently have encountered some serious problems,
I have prostate cancer that has spread to the bones and is pretty much all over my body, so i have been told by my oncologist that it is terminal and i will die from the cancer.
On a recent discussion with adult social services, it was suggested that as i am diagnosed with a terminal illness, there are extra benefits i am entitled to?
Does anyone have any experience or advice with what extra benefits i am entitled to?

Good morning Roy…im so sorry to hear your story
Can I ask, are you on any other benefits?
If not I suggest you apply for PIP ASAP
Also have you heard of "Continuing Health Care"???? If not please do look in to it because if you are assessed as needing support & care for end of life you may be able to receive a payment & a package for ALL your care & support needs at home at NO COST OF YOUR OWN paid by the NHS regardless of your income and savings as its not means tested! You should also be able to be "Fast Tracked" in your assessment due to your circumstances. I believe PIP Should also be able to Fast Track your claim too
https://
.nhs.uk/social-care-and-support/money-work-and-benefits/nhs-continuing-healthcare/"Please read the part about being fast tracked at the bottom of the NHS website page"
Wishing you all the best love & I Pray you receive all the help you are entitled to and deserve

Hi Kiki, and thanks for your reply
i should have mentioned that i am currently on ESA and on the higher rate of PIP,
I am currently in a wheelchair due to the cancer causing severe compression on the spinal chord, its a very long story but i am currently homeless, and it was during a discussion through email with an adult social care officer, that he suggested i contact DWP as he seems to think there are extra benefits i could claim due to the fact my diagnosis is terminal?

Im so sorry to hear that you are homeless which im sure adds to your stress levels which you could clearly do without at this time!
If that is the case I highly suggest you get Adult Social Services involved to arrange a needs and care assessment done for immediate housing for you! Im shocked that they haven't arranged this for you already (or have they?)
If they haven't please do also ask them to speak on your behalf to housing or try to find a local advocate to help and support you…To be honest I would have expected them to get you an advocate already or at least a social worker whom can work with you directly…
Also, I still stand by what I mentioned in regards to looking in to Continuing Health Care…
Kind regards
K
