Don't Step on a Bee Day is a delightful annual event that reminds us of the incredible role bees play in pollination and in keeping our environment healthy and thriving. While the name might sound charming and whimsical (with a slight hint of menace,) it carries an important message; raising awareness about the many challenges bees face today, such as habitat loss, overuse of pesticides, and of course climate change. This day encourages us all to be mindful of our buzzing friends and their homes, advocating for safe and welcoming spaces for them. 😁

Every year on July 10, Don't Step On A Bee Day is filled with activities that promote conservation of the bee family, including educational events, social media campaigns, and community projects to create bee-friendly environments. You can even do your part by not being so savage with your weeding in the garden, or even just having a couple of potted plants on your doorstep.

Bees are amazing pollinators, helping plants and crops reproduce. Did you know that roughly one third of the food we eat depends on pollination, mostly by bees? Without them, our plates would miss out on so many delicious (and healthy) fruits, vegetables, and nuts. Not to mention bees play a huge role in maintaining a biodiverse and healthy ecosystem.

Sadly, bee populations are declining due to pesticide use, habitat destruction, and climate change. This decline threatens not only bees but also global food security and the health of our planet. So let's come together to support our buzzy friends and ensure a brighter future for all of us. ❤️

So over to the community. What can we do to help bees and keep them thriving? Let's swap some tips

    A very important day indeed!

Don't forget that if you see a struggling bee you can help revive them by either moving them onto some flowers or by offering them a sugar water solution.

Don't give them honey as this can harm them! Flowers should always be the first solution as they have all the nutrients a bee needs, but the sugar water can give them a boost so they can get back on their way. You can even buy little kits for saving bees now with tiny vials to keep sugar water in while you're out and about ☺️

    Save those bees! 🐝

Just get in the garden and have lots of flowers help yourself and the bees seeing a bee get right inside a lupin flower is a therapeutic sight

I have different bug boxes in the garden, I also got like a little plastic ladder type for bees which you put in water like a bird bath , bees are able to safely drink without drowning. Unfortunately I've seen dead bumble bees, which I believe is caused by a mite of some kind

Loads of wild flowers planted around my town (I'll get a photo tomorrow). Seen loads of bees in the North-East.
