When I was first in a wheelchair I wasn't strong enough to do what I do now (plus NHS chairs aren't designed for an active lifestyle), so I had a large mobility scooter for nearly a year. It claimed it had a 30 mile range, well it definitely had at least 25 miles range because I did that distance regularly.

I took that thing out in storms and downpours without any kind of covering for the electronics and not once did it ever go wrong.

Your experience may vary, but that was my experience.

They go on and on, up until they don't, like with most things.

The water corrodes switches, battery terminals etc, and the engineer who came out last time for a tyre change, he said that is the biggest problem he attends to is corrosion caused by exposure to moisture. One day they turn the key and nothing happens.

My insurance policy insists that it is kept in a dry, well ventilated place, and not outside for more than 12 hours a day. It's a bloomin' great lump of a thing to keep in the living room!

I just blasted mine with WD-40 after wet rides (🤣).

WD-40, the official aftershave of the Paralympics.

You are very lucky that you were able to train yourself, and develop muscle. I don't envy anyone, but I certainly wish I had been given that ability.
