LCWRA backpay - am I due any payments? Is back pay paid automatically?

Hello
I have recently been awarded LCWRA.
I have been providing sick notes continuously since July 2022. Will my payments be backdated this far? (Surely not?)
Do you have to request backpay or is it calculated and paid automatically? Can anyone advise please 🙂

If you claim with a partner who gets LCWRA themselves then no extra money is paid.
If the Fit Notes have been provided without breaks, gaps any that were backdated etc, then yes backpay should date back to 2022, if you previously had LCW or for a new claim.
For a new claim LCWRA starts to be paid after a waiting period of three full assessment periods. No money is paid or subsequently owed for that period.
Backpay is calculated automatically, this takes several weeks at least. You'll know when this has been done as a letter will be added to your Journal stating the amount owed. Payment will then be received within a few working days.
If you receive any Transitional Protection on your claim this will reduce by the amount of LCWRA element.
