Hi, my name is dianewyllie! Had deductions from my first UC payment, is this normal?
I have just changed over from esa to universal credit , I got the rollover 2 weeks from esa and was told I would be able to keep that , I got my first payment fron universal credit last week - £280 that is a deduction because I got that esa payment. I was told I would get that and it was to help with transition ,nobody ever suggested that more than half would be deducted of your first payment ? Is this normal ,I’ve just called them again and got to speak to a manager and he told me that it goes into a computer and it tells them what your first payment should be ?

What was the deduction amount?
What exactly is the wording next to the deduction please?

deduction amount was £280 and wording was ( as this is an average of other benefits that your continuing to claim) then ESA £280

Thank you.
It isn't anything to do with the run on payment of IR ESA.
Please see these threads for information:
I'm not quite sure why but sometimes after migration the New Style ESA deduction is less the first month (even though UC usually do not do partial deductions, this seems to be an exception).
Next month it should be for the full amount £609.05.
It's very common to be mistaken about your previous ESA award, loads of people don't find out until after migration and it's one of the most common questions I myself see and answer here on the forum. Multiple times per week in various forms isn't unusual.

ESA deduction aside, do you feel your statement is otherwise correct with all the elements you were expecting?
Standard Allowance, LCWRA, housing etc?

yes and the manager I spoke to said next month my universal credit will have that £280 added

I’m not get new style esa as I phoned them and they said I was no longer with them now universal credit and they can’t help me

Personally I don't trust the advice given out by UC, seen way too much bad information given out by them.
Perhaps the wrong wording was put onto your statement as a mistake.
As an accidental overpayment of IR ESA would normally have different wording on the statement.
Which is why I gave the advice around New Style ESA.
Come back next month if things aren't any clearer from your second statement 😊
