ESA TO UC MIGRATION

Hello,

We live in London and receive ESA as a joint claim as we are a couple.

I receive PIP at enhanced rates for both daily care and mobility and my partner is my carer receiving Carers Allowance.

I am in the Support group

I have a couple of questions and hope someone may be able to help me with this please?

Do we have to claim individually as UC have sent us both separate migration notices.

Do I have to again start sending sick notes as haven't done this for years bring severely disabled.

I epuld also find it near impossible to attend an ID appt- can this be done by phone and if so what do I need to tell them?

What is the process for applying for UC when migrating from ESA. Will ESA inform UC of my circumstances or do I have to go through applying as if its a completely new claim?

I've read so.ething about Regulation 19 which precludes having another Assessment- is this correct?

Thank you all so much in advance.

You claim individually then join the claims together. Your UC award will then be based on your joint circumstances as a couple.

No, you will be given LCWRA status automatically (the UC equivalent of ESA Support Group). This can sometimes be delayed beyond the first payment statement. A request for a Fit Note might be made if such delays impact your claim, but you just have to sit tight and wait for UC to receive the information from ESA.

If online ID fails you can request a biographical id check, this is a telephone appointment where they ask question about your personal details that only you know the answer to.

If that fails, you can request a home visit although there is a wait for this and it might delay your payment.

All applications to UC are treated as new claims, even when migrating which is why everyone needs an ID check.

Once you've applied, ESA will communicate your award to UC.

You don't need to contact ESA yourself, just apply for UC and let them do the rest.

You will not need a new medical assessment as a direct result of applying for UC.

Thank You @kimi87, and thank you for your time.

Once we have claimed separately, I assume online, will UC join the claims their end or do I have to ask them to do this on the form?

Is it OK to use our birth certificates for ID purposes?

    Thank you so much again.
