Motability car can we retain it now adult disabled son has moved into a carehome

We have had a Motability car for many years to support our profoundly learning disabled non verbal autistic son. At age 27 he has now moved into a carehome 3 months ago. This was a very emotional decision for us but has worked out really well for him and he seems very happy and contented. The home do not want his motability car as they do not have enough carers with driving licences and there is a mini bus. We live only 3 miles away. We visit him twice a week and take him out for the day using the car and we also use it when we take him on family holidays with us. The car comes up for renewal in under a year. Ideally we would like to retain it. Has anyone else been in this situation and is there any advice you can share?

As long as you use the car as intended, and never for anything that doesn't involve him, I don't see why you can't retain the car.
You can always speak to Motability for clarification.
