Pip review due soon

I feel sick with worry as pip review due soon. Last time as my health conditions had got worse, I got standard daily and enhanced mobility 3 years ago, and though it has got even worse now, all I want to do is say its remaining the same so as hopefully they won't ask me to do a face to face, because mentally this would cause me extreme distress.last time was a paper review...... I'm worried I won't be able to explain properly how badly my illnesses affect me day to day... I'm just in tears all the time worrying 😟 any advice please 🙏

Hi you can request a paper based assessment as a reasonable adjustment
Thats what I have done.
They may or may not agree depending on what you write on the form and any evidence you submit.

So when I get a review form do I just fill it in and send my supporting evidence and wait to see what the outcome is, and then if they ask me to go to another face to face I then ask for reasonable adjustment to allow it to all be completed on paper? Doesn't worry you? Have you heard back? Did it go well for you? Kind regards

Just take your time with the review form, remember you can phone them and get an extension on sending the form back, that's what I did. I struggled really bad completing the form so the best advice is to complete a question a day and it's best to tell them your condition is worse as you could be awarded a higher award for your daily living.

If it means a possibility of a face to face again I'd rather just not tell them I'm worse because these reviews to prove time and again how health issues that are lifelong affect me badly every day really petrifying. A letter from my doctor would help would it?

You need to treat every review like its a new claim, just putting no change on the form isn't good for PIP and will prob end in a less award or no award all together. Ideally you want to write an A4 piece of paper for each discriptor describing in detail when you last tried the activity, what was the consquences when you tried and if you had any help/witnesses that saw you try do the activity. Make sure to write your Name and NI Number on each seperate sheet.
Doctor letters are pretty much useless when it comes to PIP, and most GP's charge for them. PIP isn't about diagnosis, its about how a condition affects you and since doctors don't see you all the time they can't say how it affects you, so evidence from doctors is weak.
You can ask for a telephone review or paper based rather than a face to face, just explain why you need one rather than a face to face. Its not 100% certain they will follow this, but most cases they tend to.

Can anyone tell me if they have had recent pip reviews, and how did they do, and what was their outcomes.

Hi @DawnBiiwoo
Mine has gone back to them, but as my review was due in Feb next year, I doubt I'll hear anytime soon.
I would advise you get help to fill the form, then it takes that particular worry away. I started filling mine out then felt I needed help with it. I called a local advice & representation centre, worth looking up for one near you. Sometimes they're called disability advice, but have a look. Wait for your forms to arrive & then contact them for an appointment asap, as there might be a wait, if so you'll need to call DWP for an extension, which isn't a problem & what I had to do.

Thank you ...do you mean a citizen advice place?

@luvpink Sorry to hijack the convo. I never knew after all the years I've been doing pip reviews both f2f and phone you can ask for paper based, do you ask it in your review form or once they contact you for a f2f or phone assessment. I've had many esa paper based ones but never asked for those. I found my last pip assessment via phone very harrowing to the point i was in great distress and paranoid for months after,it left me collapsed on my bedroom floor, it was beyond words. Thanks.

IIt's A cruel process to go through over and over again every few years, when you have illnesses that are life long...and you know there is no getting better but a case of just trying to manage ....these reviews, assessments etc definitely harrowing to say the least...😕

I have requested it as a 'reasonable adjustment' on my application form as I am in the vulnerable category to get infections and due to overwhelming psychological distress travelling and agoraphobia.
They may or may not agree to my request.

Thank you.
I hope they do agree to paper based.
I have given them enough info to make a decision and even though the 4 point rule has been dropped, I feel I am entitled to 4 points on a few descriptors.
I have been really thorough this time applying and I have requested an ongoing award as I am never going to get any better and I will be 63 when my new award is due.

Luvpink....wish you much luck...and could you let us know your outcome when you find out if you don't mind? X my illnesses also will never get better, it's a case of with my Dr's help ,just trying to manage. So it would be really helpful to know if they do grant you an ongoing award....I meN when they clearly know some illness are lifelong, it seems ridiculous to keep having reviews every few years.

I put in the reasonable adjustments section on the form. I didn't directly say I want a paper based assessment just that I struggle with phone calls or face to face as they give me really bad anxiety etc
If they have enough information they will do a paper based assessment without the need for an assessment. I've not had a proper assessment since first applying for PIP.
Just make sure you explain in detail how your conditions affect you and cover everything so they don't need to call for more information.

HHow Many years at a time do you usually get awarded for Rubin16?

@luvpink I've decades of lifelong conditions, plus new evidence of some of those ongoing conditions and treatments.
Which in itself worries me as its new info for two previously undiagnosed conditions aswell ,one of which I've learned I've had 30 years, but wasnt listened to by my gp. Its been confirmed by a specialist.
I hope you get paper based too.i hate to see others suffering. I know how bad all my conditions are and I can empathise with anyone.

@luvpink I hope and pray you get paper based, I know how bad all my conditions are so I totally empathise with others.
I've two new conditions,I say new, to add to my repotoire, one was undiagnosed over 30 years as much gp kept ignoring me but my consultant proved i had it plus another condition.so the fact ive now those as new and have proof of treatment and diagnosis i fear that might go against me,at least in regards to a paper based assessment. But we shall see.
