I am currently in the process of being migrated over to UC, from ESA.

(I am currently on contrib ESA, support group.)

I got a letter from the DWP saying:

At the appointment, we will ask you to explain how your illness or disability affects your ability to work.

I was under a vague impression that all I needed to do was to agree to tell them if my circumstances change.

Can someone please give me some advice about what I might expect during the appointment. Thanks a lot.

    Thanks a lot Kim.

    BTW, the letter also says:

Your work coach will explain what you need to do to complete your NS ESA claim.

What does that mean/entail please? thanks!

As explained in the thread, the letter is a generic letter assuming yours is a new claim. The majority of information given doesn't apply to transfers.

As a transfer from legacy benefits, all you have to do is agree verbally to keep them informed of any changes.

    That's it.

    many thanks Kim,

i must say that i find these inaccurate letters disappointing. is it beyond them to get a letter correctly worded?

and now i've been told (via the online journal) that any changes must be reported to both UC and ESA separately. one online, and one by phone, which is more awkward than before.

Regarding the appointment, what is the approx time between receiving the letter, and being contacted by the DWP to give me the appointment date? So far, it's been one month since receiving the letter, and I haven't been contacted yet about the appointment time. Thanks for any help.

Unfortunately that's not a question we can answer on here, it will vary for everyone and depends on the workload of each individual work coach dealing with each individual case.

Your ESA payments will continue to be paid as normal, while you are awaiting this appointment.
