Citizens Advice offer a Help to Claim service, they can support you before during and after your claim.
Also if you read through the Universal Credit section of the forum, there is a lot of information already posted.

Hi @zanyjayny, welcome to the community. The migration process can feel pretty stressful, especially if you've already got a lot going on at home.
If you feel up to it, you could perhaps reach out to Citizen's Advice as Kimi87 mentioned, or a professional benefits adviser. They should be able to talk you through the process and help you with anything that you're not sure about.
Hope it all goes smoothly for you ☺️

The first thing I did after getting my migration letter was to work out a date I wanted to apply on. The general advice is to apply the day after your ESA payment so I wrote down these dates. I knew ESA continues for another 2 weeks so I looked at when these weeks matched up to when I needed to order my medication so I wouldn’t have the stress of trying to sort out how to pay for that. This gave me 5 possible dates before the deadline. I ended up choosing the first one as I didn’t want to worry for any longer. I filled the form online but did not submit it as I had a couple of bits I was unsure of. I contacted ‘Help to Claim’ via webchat and then went back and edited my form. I then waited until the date came round that I wanted and pressed submit.
My claim went smoothly and the people I spoke to (to confirm my identity) were lovely and very understanding. I requested alternative payments so my rent goes directly to my landlord and I get paid twice a month.
