Hi im currently on Esa support group and have been for 2 years, now as we are all being transferred to Universal credit my question is will it take into account my partners earnings as household combined income and do we have to show all of our bank statements as apparently we do? As im in the support group im hoping it would just merge over with no problems but there are so many opinions online I'm not sure what is right?

Yes your UC award will be based on your circumstances as a couple.

You will have a work allowance on your claim which is the amount your partner can earn before deductions.

With Housing Element this is £411, without £684.

After this amount UC will deduct £0.55 for every pound earned.

You can use a benefits calculator to estimate UC award.

If when applying you have over £6k capital you will likely be asked to show bank statements, this has to be paper statements in person at a Job Centre.

Once you are receiving UC your claim might be selected for a financial check. They usually ask for 4 months worth of bank statements and id. This would be uploaded onto your online UC account (known as the Journal) with the interview done by phone.

Your ESA will be deducted in full from your UC award, £609.05 which is the monthly equivalent of a weekly benefit.
