Autism and migration from esa

Hi I am the appointee for my adult son who’s now37.He has Asd with challenging behaviour and he has been in many placements over the years with many challenging situations mainly being placement breakdowns and being too far away from home the furthest being six hours each way to visit. He’s now been in supported living for just over a year which is nearer to our home and he will be moving again in the next month or two to a new build that’s also nearer home.I have just received a migration letter on his behalf as I’m his appointee and was just wondering what happens with the filling in of the questions as some I will not know like his current medication and how much rent he pays. Also what about them asking for his identification to be confirmed as he would get extremely confused and anxious if he was asked to go for an interview or to speak on the phone.

Thank you for reading. Angela

I believe as his appointee you verify your ID, and that verifies him.

A list of medical conditions should be sufficient on the application.

Being in supported living his rent will continue to be paid by Housing Benefit. If he moves out of supported living you will need to know his rent amount to claim Housing Element under UC.

Citizens Advice have a Help to Claim service, they can support you before during and after the claim. This is a national service run by phone and webchat, not linked to the local branch.
