LWRCA

hi I’ve been told I have LWRCA from March 2025. I’ve been told I won’t get a payment till November as I was capable for work between March-July. I’ve had sick notes since December 2024 with no gaps. Ive raised this with UC and they say a mistake was made an I qualify from March as originally told. I raised the issue on 1st August and still no payments or back pay have been made from March. How long does it take to calculate the back pay after a mistake has been made?

Hi @Nikolamanley sorry to read this. It sounds like it's been stressful! It's hard to say for sure the timeframes. Hopefully our members who might have been through something similar can advise how long it took them to give you an idea. Do hope you hear back soon!

It usually takes several weeks at least.
You'll know when this has been done as a letter will be added to your Journal stating the amount owed due to underpayment. The money will then be paid within a few working days.
Seeing LCWRA element appear on a new payment statement will also be a sign everything is being processed behind the scenes.

Hi
I've had my decision letter today. I've been told on my journal I've have been awarded Lwca. I have been on the sick since April. There has been no gaps in my sick note. Will I be in tiled to back pay ?
Thank you

LCWRA has a waiting period of three full assessment periods, from the date the first Fit Note was handed in. No money is paid or subsequently owed for that period.
What date did you report the health condition?
What date was your first Fit Note?
Were there any gaps in handing in Fit Notes, any that were backdated etc? It's the date they are given to UC that counts, not the start date written on them.
Do you claim with a partner who gets LCWRA, or have Transitional Protection on your claim?
Finally what is your UC assessment period or payment date?

I was told I would get the new added payment on 30th July and also back pay from March. It wasn’t added and I’ve had no back pay.
UC keep saying they will ask my work coach to contact me before 6pm. Four times I’ve been told this and four times I’ve had no call or had any of my questions answered through my journal. It’s not helping my mental health getting no response or further forward on what I’m told I should have already been paid.1 -
With LCWRA you no longer have a work coach.
Have you tried writing a message on your Journal using the Payment option? This should be sent to your case manager.
Journal messages using another option will go to a service centre, which can take a long time to get a reply.
You can also try an online complaint

When I have rang they say they will leave a message for my work coach/case manager, four times I’ve waited for a call that hasnt come and many journal messages through all the options left with no response.
Thank you for the link I will be putting in a complaint about the lack of response from them.0 -
Hi I have really bad mental health problems. My 1st sick note went in 7th of April. They weren't any gaps in my sick notes. They all had dates on them. My latest sick note I have in runs out on the 11th of September. I've been told I don't need to hand any more sick notes in

My assessment period goes from the 3rd of each month to the 2nd of each month. I get paid on the 9th of each month

I can't advise correctly without answers to all of my questions.

What date did you report the health condition?
Do you claim UC with a partner who gets LCWRA themselves?
Do you have any Transitional Protection on your claim?

How do I stop the comment notifications for someone else’s issues.
I keep getting emails to say I have a reply but it’s not a reply to my post it’s someone else’s post on mine?0 -
Hi, click on your profile picture at the upper right corner, better do it on a pc once on mobile devices depending on the operating system, etc. it differs, next click account & privacy settings, next you got a menu on the right side of the page which is part of your account settings, click on notifications preferences and chose the ones you would like to keep on, if it gets confusing just use trial/error like for most things in life. Hope it helps.

I would kindly suggest you getting some advisor or carer to 'deal with' that sort of situations for you, or else, and as kind of you stated, your mental health can go down further really fast if you keep on hammering the same subject over & over again with redundancy being almost always the outcome.
All the people 'complaining' about the poor performance from DWP staff, please keep in mind that some of them got minimal information/coaching on really subjective, delicate matters, and lots of those matters keep on being updated/changed on a regular basis by the legislators and the DWP intranet got so much information that some of the work coaches just get lost and confused, humans are just humans, we do mistakes, just keep calm and be patient. You can always just complain through your UC account instead of ringing the help line.
Best wishes.
