@MissMarple suggested books by Sharon Bolton to me and currently one is now for sale on Amazon: The Dark.

Has anyone read this? The description makes it sounds rather ominous, well… dark.

I haven't read that title but saw an interview with the author about it. She talked about the research she did, on those forums. It sounded pretty dark indeed.

I've brought a recommendation that features a disabled main character: Alter Ego by Helen Heckety. I loved the humour throughout the book and the protagonist's struggles were very relatable.

Ha, thanks for that @MissMarple Alter Ego sounds interesting, I've downloaded a free sample to try it. Weirdly coincidental, this minute I've just got The House of God from the free little library, apparently a cult classic about doctors and interns. The reviews on Goodreads are all over the place.
And I am thinking of skipping The Dark for now as I am currently not in the right mindset to read about men making life hard for others. The same could be said for the book about the doctors perhaps?

Right now I am reading Fangs and Frenemies, so far so good. For free on Amazon.

I can't remember if I ever read a Wilbur Smith, but him being a big name I suppose I must have @michael57 What book by him would you recommend?

The House of God sounds intriguing @SmellyBin I love dark humour, if it's done well.

I'm currently looking for my next read. Not well to focus on paper/screen at the moment so it should be an audiobook.

I don't often read story books, it's probably because I don't have much of an imagination, so for me it's just black words on a white page and nothing that vivid or detailed comes to mind, what does come to mind is just vague and grey, so I can't really get into it.

But, if it's a story book based on a TV show that I enjoy watching then that's different, as I know all the characters and the environments they're in, so now I have proper colourful images in my mind of these things and I have a proper impression of what the characters are really like, and I can enjoy it.

Last book I read was Red Dwarf: Infinity Welcomes Careful Drivers, if you like the show Red Dwarf or like comedy then I recommend it.

@Ross1975 have you tried "reading" manga? There're lots of beautiful books designed for adults

Helloooo @mary _Scope and @MissMarple always nice to chat about books :)

Is Gone Girl the one with suspicion on abuse or murder? Something to do with storing vomit in the fridge? If so, it was way too evil for me.

I am currently reading Alexis Hall’s Boyfriend Material and I keep laughing out loud which is good, because it is about undermining yourself or being seen as less by others.

But you Miss are very brave for reading this book. Very timely topic, we need books like these. But I need my distance from this from time to time for my mental health. Thanks for sharing, if I change my mind I’ll know where to find it.

Have you heard of the Melt the ICE knitting pattern for hats? A woman from Minneapolis has a local yarn shop and designed this as a visible protest of ICE actions in the United States and raising funds for immigrant aid agencies. Over 11 thousand has been knitted already! Yay!I am just very thankful for every single human wanting to discuss this or knit a hat to say they’ve had enough. We are way past a grey area, I am finding it hard to find the right words for this.

PS - I am posting this here, because in the original thread I've tried six times to upload my comment, but it wasn't working…
