Well here goes nothing!! In 2016 my brother won tribuneral appeal against esa. He was awarded contributional esa and support group, he got letter from esa stating he was no longer receiving a means tested benefit which is why we appealed. They didnt send any letter of breakdown on what his benefit would include so as far as we were aware it wasnt means tested. Then we get a letter to migrate to uc, why he is not on a means tested benefit of esa. But having dug out every letter from esa that he got, they added a means tested element disability income quanatee without notifying us or sending breakdown. We feel utterly overwhelmed as to why they did this. As now he as to produce bank statements and he had money over than what was required, because we had no idea whatsoever that esa added this means tested benefit, when we didnt want it. I am writing to my mp as all this as caused him serious stress and his health (copd) is extremely bad. Are we able to do anything now after not being informed about this and no breakdown of what he would get back in 2016.

If his letters included the Disability Income Guarantee, then that is written notification of receiving Income Related ESA.

I know ESA letters in general are very confusing.

I believe I advised you on another forum so I won't add anything.

Could not log back in, I dont fathom accordingly he should have received a breakdown and notification in writing beforehand, which was never done, and receiving payment details is not sufficient evidence for them to conclude , I have also consulted a friend within the dwp
