Odd payment to bank account

Hi there I'm my son's appointee and he migrated from ESA to UC in September with a lot of help from people on here and he is due another payment including LCWRA on Monday which looks correct. But today a payment just shows his Nat Ins number and £115.19p paid into his bank account I'm worried what it is and don't know what to do. Thanks if anyone can help

If he migrated in September he should have had his final ESA payment already.

Are there any letters in the payment reference after his NI number?

You could also make enquiries with the bank.

@Kimi87 Hi there when I looked at his account last night that's when it had appeared. Worried I checked again this morning it's now changed to saying

HMRC DIR TAX PYTS so could it be some sort of Tax rebate but why don't think he'd be due anything as he's not working? I'm worried about upsetting his UC payments which is hopefully correct. Don't know if I have to tell them?

It might be a historical tax refund if he's worked in the past?

HMRC would be the place to contact and ask.

With UC it would depend on whether the payment is classed as income.

A small deduction might be made, but just for the Assessment Period in which it was received.

@Kimi87 Hi when he migrated I couldn't cope with ESA changing to NS ESA and UC so closed it before it started he got his final payment deducted from first UC payment of course l. But I seem to remember someone saying he'd get a P60 if something when closing that benefit? He did receive a yearly tax notice? He hasn't worked for 19 years unable to

You'd need to contact HMRC to find out what the payment was for as it originated from them.

@Kimi87 thank you for your help have found his P45 that's what I was thinking of they sent it when his ESA claim was closed when he transferred to UC. So not sure if that's generated anything the only other thing I can think of is his little pension £33.60 a month? There is a tax phone number on the P45. What do I do about telling UC please if it's correct which I doubt do tax make mistakes?

Not sure which one you mean.

You can contact your local Citizens Advice branch for assistance certainly, the dedicated Help to Claim service (national) only deals with new claims up until the first payment.
