Leaving a job voluntarily
hi. Thank you for reading
I am married husband works full time…I currently work full time. I have fybromayalgia, osteoarthritis, anxiety and depression. My fybro has been so bad lately. I feel I can’t carry on working full time. If I gave up my job voluntarily because of my health or possibly cut my hours to say 10 a week could I claim benefit right away or be sanctioned. Would I have to surrender sick notes for a certain amount of time? I so can’t face the whole journey with my employer for them to let me go through ill health 😔 I couldn’t cope with the harassment to either give up or go back!
I receive ADP lower living. No mobility

Never leave your employment, always go down the signing off sick route.
I got several lengthy sick notes, was brought in to see the company quack, eventually leading to dismissal.

thanks Chris. It’s that whole journey of appointments for say 6 months with employer. Work doc. Gp that is stressing me I’m hoping I could cope doing 10hours would I need sick notes to claim LCW to top up my £ if I did this?

I'm another person who would urge you not to quit and instead go through your employers process. At least talk to ACAS.
Yes you'd need sick notes & to go through a Work Capability Assessment.
If awarded LCWRA then you would get extra money*, if awarded LCW you wouldn't.
*UC works by adding up your entitlements, then making any deductions.
A deduction would be made for your husband's wage. Without LCW/LCWRA this would be £0.55 for every pound earned. With one of those the deduction wouldn't start until he's earned £411 (with Housing Element) or £673 (not getting HE). The amounts are monthly.
Have you looked at New Style ESA?
The WCA and descriptors are the same. If eligible financially you can get both UC & NS ESA. The NS ESA would be deduction in full from your UC award.

Thank you Kimi
Great information. I am with a union for work so could ask their advice. And hopefully soon will start on a lowered hours journey. I am absolutely miserable due to the fybro pushing myself far too far
