- Does it affect her DLA UC payments
- If I became a carer does that go against me in future reviews with DLA

Hi @falkirkjohnny, can I just check that you are definitely on DLA, as it's now a benefit for under 16s.

HIi I've had a look for you and found some answers (I've assumed you live in Scotland):
1.I’m on DLA higher rate Can II apply for carers allowance for my mum that lives at a different address.
Yes you can apply for Carer Support Payment if you provide care for 35 hours or more a week, don't earn more than £196 a week and your mum receives certain benefits, i.e. ADP daily living component.
2. Does it affect her DLA UC payments
It won't affect ADP payments, but can affect others.
3. If I became a carer does that go against me in future reviews with DLA
ADP awards are based on what your needs are. If you continue to meet the criteria on the descriptors it should be fine.

I get UC unfit for payment + £175 private pension a month
£605+£176=£781.00

It specifies that if you earn more than £196 a week it can affect it, so it doesn't look like UC payments would affect it. Your private pension of £175 would also not affect it as it's below £196 a week.
Your Universal Credit would be reduced if you get Carer Support Payment (CSP) as CSP would be classed as income. I'm not sure by how much as it will vary. The website I linked to above has lots of information on it and also you can use their eligibility checker which will tell you exactly what you can get .

thanks for all the info there’s no point getting CSP if they will deduct it from my UC
