Updates on redacted info"Universal Credit Review - data protection breach!"
Hello
I've just joined Scope as U have a number of non apparent Disabilities/health conditions (including Neurodiversity, diagnosed) , I'm on Universal Credit, self employed (have a limited company) but not earnt for awhile due to health, have fit note & just been granted LCWRA and have been asked (mandated)to supply 4 months of bank statements personal and business.
I've just seen thread cited above from March 2025 & wondered if
i)update on if it's possible to send redacted information eg re transactions?
ii)possible to see the Template complaints letter mentioned in thread (Biss?
iii) MOST IMPORTANTLY anyone can advise on
a)whether I HAVE to submit all the info in full ie nothing redacted despite my concerns re both data privacy breach, relevancy and risk of anything undermining my UC claim/payments. Although I have earnt £200 max in last 4 months, fit note from 1 Aug, no personal savings & some money in Business bank a/c BUT need the Ltd Co to pay me something as salary very soon (living off mortgage facility)but not done accounts for 24/25 (one of the deadlines I requested extension on!)to know what's possible & doubt I can do that today as well as info
b)if there's a way for me to state my concerns re this data request without arousing suspicion or issues (as I don't have energy to deal wiht atm but this feels/seems wrong!!)
c)If there's a way to protect myself, financial privacy AND security (if supplying bank a/c info on public platform viewable by many people?!) and/or rather,U.C payments both historic ,current & future ie if U.C decide to review content of the bank statements which doesn't seem relevant only what money is coming into business, going out .Not sure where personal bank statement comes in certainly not transactions. Nothing to hide just don't want hassle (& justice sensitivity is railing aginst this!)
I did reported (in UC journal) that this request was giving me extra stress both from an admin pov (I'm ADHD & in ND burnout atm & had to request extensions to all accounting/related deadlines)& as I'm concerned will affect payments (& sensitive data/security issue). I asked why I'd been asked to send this info & if was still required given the LWCRA. I was told 'everyone' is being asked to send this info; LWCRA irrelevant. And when I asked for extension I was given (only)5 days, no more is available. And that TODAY 9th December is the DEADLINEn& I've been unwell (related to ongoing health conditions+something new, hopefully passing!)& have other important/urgent things to do, with deadlines. BUT I don't want to jeopardise payments as says they can close claim so I'm confused/concerned
Any help on specific questions & updates asap much appreciated pls
Thank you!

Hi Catherine21
Thanks for replying
I had to submit yesterday & did so with some of the bank account numbers redacted (from pov of security & a note about that.
Still be good to know if original contributor had any update on his appeal and if Facebook group with complaints template got anywhere
IF you or anyone else here happens to know please?
