£10 Christmas Bonus

You must have blinked in 2001, Brown balanced them once, then the ink ran red forevermore.

He also took his one good eye off the ball when selling off some of our gold reserves costing us as a country a tidy penny about the same time so he did not do us any favours

I wasn’t polishing his halo, just reminding you the books balanced once while you were breathing.
2 -
Haha I remember it very well

Ok stop arguing, I've spent it! I've apologised to the DWP for the expense it's cost them, but I threw caution to the wind and spent it all at once.😂😂

🤣

If only the admin bill were as small as the bonus, then we could all laugh.

My Christmas bonus is always folded into one of my ESA payments, 8th December this year.

I just receive PIP, and the Christmas Bonus always comes through as a separate payment for me, not folded into my usual PIP instalment.

Mine always came through separately despite being on legacy IR ESA & PIP.
I'll have to keep an eye out for it now that I'm on UC. Though with my UC payment changing each month, it won't be easy to see whether it's been added onto that unless I go to the hassle of opening the statement to check the precise amount first.
1 -
UC isn't one of the qualifying benefits for the Christmas Bonus, so you won't need to check your statements 😊
2 -
Thank you. That'll make it even easier to check as I have PIP paid into a different account from UC. 🙂

I expect the first people who would of recieved it are pushing up daisies by now so can't be asked

If only Christmas costs had died off with them. The living still pay, £10 is a ghost of its purpose.

I mentioned collecting the Christmas Bonus for my grandmother. My great-grandmother was alive in 1972, aged 90. Ten whole pounds would have paid her bills for longer than the Christmas season but she was a generous soul and spent it on her family.

I can see it in the media now 'Granny couldn't afford to heat house on Christmas day due to lack of £10 bonus' or 'Grandad couldn't afford his Christmas pud due to lack of £10 bonus'.

I've never noticed being given a £10 bonus, in fact the first I heard of it was on here, which I think was just a few months ago.
I think it's definitely better than nothing, it can buy a box of After Eights, a nice craft beer, and some peanuts for example. If you feel insulted by it or or don't like it or whatever then do something positive with it like give it to charity.

This thread has definitely given its £10 worth… 😉

That's an important point: "I've never noticed being given a £10 bonus…."
