CHRISTMAS DATES FOR THE DISABLED
I enquired about my disabled relatives payment date as he's new to universal credit and they have assigned him the 25th as his payment date. He was told on his journal he'd be paid on the 23rd but I checked th gov websites for him it says 24th which is useless as he needs to pre pay for his groceries and deliveries and cannot get out on his own. He has been refused a budgeting advance and because of the misinformation given will be left without any chance of getting fresh things or gifts delivered until the 28th. Many questions on his journal are just going unanswered I wondered whose bright idea it was to pay out Christmas money on the 24th to the elderly, disabled, housebound or those out in the sticks who rely on home shopping? What an utterly stupid thing to do! !!.

In fairness, this isn't 'Christmas money'. Benefits are always paid on the previous working day if the payment date falls on a bank holiday or weekend.

I hope he manages to find a solution, the UC payment date is linked to the date a claimant applies for UC.
