Hi everyone. Son, 18 new to UC, got awarded LCWRA. He didn’t migrate from other benefits. Applied for UC on 01/09 and sick note was handed in immediately covering the 3 assessment months and more. I already asked UC when he’d get his first payment. I was told in January. What I don’t know is whether payments get backdated? Thanks

Hi,
There won't be anything to backdate in this case. No payments are made for the first 3 assessment periods for a first time LCWRA claim.

LCWRA has a waiting period of three full assessment periods before LCWRA element is added to the award.
No money is paid or subsequently owed for that period.
