a bit of a long story so I will try to simplify it down. I had to give up my job after 20 yrs due to me being poorly and not being able to do my job anymore. In the last ten yrs I was claiming pip at standard rate for both till around three yrs ago then I was awarded enhanced on both components. I’ve now got got enhanced again on both for another four years. After I had to give up work I applied for new style esa and after 13 weeks I was put in the support group my esa then went up to 279.00 then reduced down to 249.00 because of deductions for my private pension and then my husband started being ill with his mental health and anxiety and having to do more and more things for me. He then got esa new style and is in the assessment phase. He then got pips awarded and gets standard rate for care. Now this is what I can’t get my head around, we was told to apply for uc in august 2023, I filled everything in correctly and we got zero amounts for a year and they stopped the claim, we had statements stating personal allowance and it was around 623.00 for the two of us we got nothing for rent and there was a figure of 903 which was both our private pensions and they had deducted this from our statement but yet they had wrote down that they was already deducting it from our esa payments. Then they closed the claim. Moving forward to June 24 we applied again for uc, again we was told we would get it and not to worry and any money due would be back paid to us. Then zero amounts till March 2025. It was then that I started to ask questions and query things, some of the questions I asked are.
Lcwra should have been added to our uc claim in 2023 why wasn’t this done ?According to Google ( I believe this site more than uc) they then added it then told us we wasn’t entitled to it because we wasn’t on uc.
The next question was why pay us money over a three month payment and then tell us we can get uc and then zero payments again up to September 25. We are sending messages, there not making themselves clear and today I recieved a wait for this a letter from them stating we now can get uc and a payment of £0.01p was put in my bank. Can anyone check what I’m entitled to because if it’s right that we could get LCWRA from 2023 while my husband was claiming carers allowance for me as his wage why didn’t I get it ?
I do hope someone can help to clarify what we are entitled to and any back pay, this government have a PM who is more interested in helping other fight a war but not helping us disabled people fight our own war with them.1 -
It sounds like your deductions were more than the UC award entitlement, Carer's Allowance, ESA and your pension would all be deducted from your total UC award.
Do you still have access to any of your old UC Statements? It would be easier to see what's gone on seeing a breakdown ❤️
If you're on the support group of ESA you should be in lcwra group on UC and have that as an element on your award, and your partner the carer element. UC works by adding together all the elements you're entitled to and then deducting any deductions like overlapping benefits and pensions and if there's anything left that's the UC awar
Do you rent your home? You said you didn't get anything for rent

New Style ESA and UC have different rules for pension deductions. They are two separate benefits.
ESA have a threshold before deductions start, with UC it's taken off in full.
Just because ESA deducted it doesn't stop UC from also deducting.
Carers Allowance, ESA and UC are all income replacement benefits.
Under the means tested (UC) welfare system a person is entitled to one income replacement benefit only.
So while ESA & Carers can be claimed together, they would both get deducted from your UC award in full as they are classed as unearned income.
