Motability and appointee

I am my daughter's appointee. She has mental health issues and some physical disabilities. She can manage at times but also needs support with dealing with things like benefits. She wants to get a motability car. Am i responsible for the car legally as her appointee? Has anyone else been in a similare situation and how did you manage it? Im worried about being involved to be honest.

    As appointee you have to spend the money in her best interests.

    Do you agree your daughter's wish for a Motability car is of greater benefit to her than receiving the Mobility money?

    Hi @Greenleaf, welcome to the community. As her appointee, you'd usually be applying on her behalf and would be legally responsible for the agreement. There's a bit about it on the Motability website under the section titled 'Becoming an appointee':

    It says:
    "An appointee can apply to join the Scheme on the disabled person’s behalf. Then they’ll be legally responsible for the lease agreement. It’s the appointee’s responsibility to make sure the Scheme car is used for the right reasons and that the disabled person has full access to it."
