I had a Saab 900 on an E plate - 1987. It wasn't a turbo, just the humble 2.0. I remember it still had plastic wheel trims, not alloys.
Those motors were well ahead of their time engineering wise, if not the most aesthetically pleasing.

Specifically - the early Saab 99 had a Triumph based engine (1709/1854cc) - which was a Stag engine (V8) sliced down the middle - hence it was leaning over !

out of all the cars i have modified in my younger days 1st choice would still be mk1 **** twin cam for road rallies renault 21 turbo for performance and comfort for the kids and a 2.3 stroker mitsubishi evo 6.5 tommi makinen 700bhp for personal fun my wheels now are on a computer chair haha
