On International Women’s Day, and during Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month, it feels especially important to recognise the women helping to shape the future of our community.
Through my role at Scope, leading the Cerebral Palsy Network, I have the privilege of connecting with women across the UK who are driving change every single day. They are advocates, professionals, researchers, carers, mothers, daughters and community leaders — and their insight is helping to challenge barriers and reshape services.

Yet disabled women’s voices are still too often under-represented in healthcare, research and decision-making.

That’s why spaces like the CP Network matter. When women with lived experience of cerebral palsy come together to share knowledge, support one another and influence conversations, real change becomes possible.

International Women’s Day is a moment to celebrate their leadership, resilience and impact — and to recommit to ensuring disabled women are heard, respected and included in shaping the systems that affect their lives.
During Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month, I’m proud to work alongside so many incredible women who continue to push our community forward.
