Employers saying "We are a disability confident employer" cobblers!

Above.

They're just legally obliged to say it under the Equality Act 2010, they do NOT actually mean it, I got rejected yesterday for that "Funeral Director" job I applied to on Indeed last week, probably due to the disability issues but I can't prove that.

Has anyone else had problems?

Are you in any way qualified for the position? I would imagine that is skilled work.

The Disability Confident scheme is voluntary, so employers do not have to sign up to it. If they include it in a job advert, it means they have chosen to register as a Disability Confident employer.

But it does not guarantee a job or even an interview. Some Disability Confident employers choose to offer interviews to disabled applicants who meet the minimum criteria, but this is optional and varies by employer, it’s not a strict rule of the scheme.

There are also different “levels” to being a Disability Confident employer, and I think companies should have to state clearly which level they are.

I’m sorry to hear you were unsuccessful this time, @SheffieldMan1976. As @SoapySoutar said, it is actually a very skilled position, and they may have been looking for someone with more experience in that area. Best of luck with your next application.

you chose to apply for a role on Indeed, and not the company's website. there's your first mistake.
