Recently had a UC work assessment via telephone. It lasted about 2hrs at which point assesser said she had came to ger decision but needed to speak to her superior. She said this could take sometime, anything up to an hour, and would call us back. 30/45mins later she called back & said she had to leave as her child has chickenpox & someone else would finish off assessment & if this was okay. About an hour later another assesser called & we basically had to go through the same format once again, this lasted for about an hour. At end she said we would get notification by letter of any decision made. This was last Wednesday. Is this normally how assessments are carried out ?

    Hi welcome to the community.

I would say no your assessment didn't sound normal but anything is possible.

The decision letter will inform you of the outcome.

Hi @bobbymac and welcome to the community! It's hard to say for sure. It might be that the person is quite new and so needs to get extra support from a senior member of staff, and that she needed to leave and so someone else wanted to make sure they were thorough by making sure they do the full review themselves. I'm just thinking of possibilities here but hopefully you hear some positive news soon. Will you let us know how you get in if you're happy to? 😊

Not normal at all, but unfortunately not unheard of when staff have emergencies

I'd recommend adding a note to your UC journal mentioning that the assessment was restarted with a second person, just so there is a paper trail if the decision takes longer than usual
