How much can I earn if I get a job on PIP/UC without getting sanctioned?

I know the DWP said yesterday that PIP and UC are soon to become means tested and if you earn over a certain amount, you'll get sanctioned.

How much is this amount and would it therefore be worth working 16 hours a week at minimum wage?

With respect, I believe you misunderstood that post.

UC has always been means tested. You can earn up to £427 a month without any deductions. Anything above that creates a deduction of 55p per £1. You will never be sanctioned for working, it is a deduction only.

PIP is not means tested and does not have any limit on earnings.

The article doesn't discuss making PIP means-tested and @OverlyAnxious has given some good information about how much you can earn while on UC. The article is making people aware that if they begin work while on benefits, the DWP may reassess their benefits claim depending on what type of work the person is doing.

In the unlikely event I get a job, it'd be either Office work (typing stuff on a PC and maybe answering emails and phone calls), or customer facing retail work, preferably Office work because the money's better.

I can't see there being an issue @SheffieldMan1976 as long as it doesn't go against what you've stated about your disability. I'm hopeful that reviews will only take place when there is an obvious discrepancy between the work being carried and what the claimant has said they are able to do.

you won't get sanctioned just for starting work on PIP/UC. you may get a review triggered, though nothing will happen so long as the job you take doesn't contradict your disability. That's different.
