New ambulatory power chair user
Good afternoon all, i gave up my mobility scooter and it went to heaven. It's been nearly a year and I've been struggling walking a fair distance. So yesterday I ordered a new power chair just so i can walk my little one to school, i drive mostly but she really wants to be actively walking.
I feel quite guilty though as I'm able bodied but really suffer with fatigue and pain.
I walk around indoors then gave to stop/rest and can't stand still for too long.
It will help me lots i know, but family find it funny, yet they were okay with me having a scooter when it was needed.
Why does it feel so different though? I mean, they're both the same, gets you from a to b? Yet there is still so much stigma over a power chair!

Hi @Nicebrit. I'm not sure why it would be considered different to having a mobility scooter. The main thing is that you are able to get out when you need/want to. It doesn't matter what type of aid you use. Has the stigma just been from your family?

Hi @Nicebrit I do not know why your family would find it funny.
Surely the main thing is it gives you independence and enables you to get out and about without getting to fatigued and ending up in pain.
Nothing at all to feel guilty about.
Perhaps when your family see how much the power chair helps you they will support you more.
Take care.
