Job search depression getting really bad

struggling to apply for anything. I see listings and just can't get myself to do it.

i'm neurodivergent, and applying for anything takes a lot of mental brainpower and task switching that's just not worth the energy to deal with just to never hear anything back or get ghosted.

I just don't believe any of the positions I'm seeing online now are real. or if they are, whether they'll actually get back to me, or were even going to consider anyone outside internal hires and networks to begin with. it just dosen't feel worth it for rejection, ghosting, having to fight off CPTSD-related triggers, including rejection sensitive dysphoria.

also trying to work out who's viable in my professional networks to reconnect with is a strugle. like, who could realistically help me, and for what?

i'm also just not believing anyone who says they're gonna take my CV and get back to me with services i'm under. i don't trust the jobs they have a real, because employers themselves don't want to fill them.

feel like I'm going to be unemployed till after the upcoming Iran War-related socioeconomic crash coming later this year. And given the political climate in the UK towards all marginalised groups, I fear i won't be able to leave the country before i'm a victim of a hate crime, meaning I'm unable to work at all.

at least the EU youth mobility scheme coming in next year gives me hope i can return to humanity with a job before it's too late.

I agree, I've applied for several jobs recently and got rejected for most of them purely because I happen to be over 25 (I was 50 last month), and can't work evenings or weekends which are pretty much mandatory in retail.

did employers explicitly tell you that you got rejected for age? you can't prove it otherwise.

It is completely valid to feel like the entire system is rigged against you when you are dealing with burnout and rejection sensitive dysphoria.

No, it's probably the Neurodiversity and lack of being able to work evenings or weekends that's holding me back, although I did put on the last application last week that I can work every Evening except Wednesdays and short weekend shifts.

Also, ageism is the ONE thing that isn't covered by the Equality Act, unfortunately.

they wouldn't know you're neurodivergent unless you tell them (and if you do, that's your first mistake).

Also best to just say you can work evenings and weekends even when you can't, so you can actually speak to a person fully once you're able to.

in fairness, gender identity also isn't thanks to the Supreme Court ruling. Better to not be included on the Act that retconned out of it later through systemic bigotry in the legal system.

In the unlikely event I attended an in person interview, they'd probably be able to tell I'm mildly Autistic, and also deaf due to my wearing of 2 hearing aids.

Hi @Stellar. I'm sorry you're struggling with finding a job. It's an incredibly draining process and it's difficult to remain positive. Do you know about our Support to Work team? They can give you advice on your situation and help you find a job.

You mentioned that you're concerned about being a victim of hate crime. Has this happened to you before?

Not sure if it's happened to @Stellar but it has to me, at one of my last voluntary jobs, on the day I left, I was called a "deaf C***" by a guy at the PDSA in Broomhill, he thought I didn't hear him due to hearing aid issues at the time but I did, he's lucky I did not knock him into 3 weeks later.

That's awful @SheffieldMan1976. I don't understand why people have to be so mean.
